The next Phase~!

Tue Nov 24, 2009, 8:25 PM
Hey this is kinda cool. I talked with a friend of mine who's an artist I really respect and he saw the work I did the last 2 weeks and he said he felt I was ready to kick things up a notch. It's cool news....what I am going to be doing is now doing 4 different types of exercises a night.

so it will start with figures, then some hands, then faces, and finally lighting...I'll probably work on this for the next few weeks but it's going to start bringing all these basics together....I think also the drawings will start to get a little tighter (not the gesture stuff that is supposed to be loose and "gestural" hahaha

It's cool news....I am trying to be disciplined and learn this stuff right. It takes a lot of patience but I felt like without the basics really nailed down....I am going to get frustrated if I can't work (especially with figures) at a level I want/.

so yeah figured I'd share that news.....it will sorta seem the same but you'll see more variety each day and maybe in a few weeks if this goes well....all the studies will be done and I can get down to business. Serious comic book drawing business...

:)

I still feel like an hour of "practice" a day is important....it keeps me loose and always learning new things....it's like a good warm up each day...jam on something and stretch yourself.

keep up the great work! seeing so many sketches like yours inspired me to make more time for sketching daily (as opposed to only doing finished works which is getting a little tiresome)

And then the rats came for them...THOUSANDS of them...dirty, dirty rats. And these weren't the cuddly kind of rats that you get in today's sewers.

So far I think you doing great. Lot farther than I could ever dream of being. Thank you for sharing these. I love looking at artist sketches because it helps me get ideas and a better understanding of different techniques. Best of luck in getting into comics.

When my day to day life finally gets a little stable I may contact you about a request or art trade. Only if you interested.

Again, best of luck and the very best of wishes.
